Textile Images & Illustrations

A recent piece, created through collage, pen/ ink, stitch, textile embellishments and Photoshop/ Illustrator. The image was inspired by places that I had visited and how I have seen small villages and its surrounding area. I am pleased with the piece and feel it is the direction I would like to take my work.

My inspirations comes from children's books, scenery and architecture. Using the imagination to create a piece that tells a story.   Here I have used a series of patterns through print to create a background made for a child's book at university.  I have added decorative paper leaves and jewelry to implement a forest, creating texture and atmosphere.  The use of water colour is applied along with biro and stitch.
I really like to use my own type.  It was appropriate to use for the type of book I was producing. They are collection of images from a children's book that I created at university for a final degree project.  The book was made for a close relative and was made in memory of my granddad.  My childhood years were spent with my grandparents, exploring and visiting places and learning. I wanted my book to be a professional personal sketchbook, a collection of memories.  The photos are enhanced in photoshop/ illustrator and applied to the content of the book with stitch embellished with buttons and decorative material.
This piece was also created for the book.  I wanted to create a piece that represented the places where my nan and granddad had visited when they were young.  They used to ride their bikes to different places and the arrows on the picture represents this.  Additionally I have finished the piece with mounted photos of their trip around the houses.
I had a alot of relevant material to work with, which was exciting and was emotional in a sense that I was reliving my younger years creating this book. An illustration of Vivienne Westwood.  A university piece with 3d and 2d elements finalized in photoshop.  I have incorporated some of Vivienne's famous fashion garments, inc Naomi Campbell's high heel purple shoes, Paris catwalk of 1993.  Photography and watercolour was also used in the creation of this piece.
Creating art work from art work!, Happy Birthday Card for a friend.
Underneath I have created some Christmas cards, which are from my own printing and photography. On some on the cards I have cut back into the pieces making shapes, creating the impression of leaves. I have used other materials such as foil, ribbon and stitch over the Photoshop image. Finally I mount and stamp each card.
